Equestrian - Opening Notes
Exhibitors please note:
- Numbers will not be sent out but can be collected in the Horse Secretary Tent on the morning of the Show.
- Horse boxes and Trailers, please follow road signs and Stewards directions on show day.
- It is a requirement for all equines to travel with their passports.
- Equine premises number must accompany all entries.
- While every effort has been made to avoid clashing, events on Show Day may cause classes to run late.
- Competitiors are asked to be on time.
- Lead Rein classes must be led by a person over 16 years of age (no age limit for the child on horse's back)
- Riding independently classes (child must be 5 years old)
- Inhand classes (child must be 5 years old)
- Working Hunter over fences under 300mm (child must be 6 years old)
Note: Juniors- Don't forget to look at Junior classes in other sections of the show

PLEASE NOTE: Rings will begin on time. Please be on time for your classes to keep things moving. It is up to competitiors to be at the ring for the start of their classes. Rings and times are subject to change.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
- Horse riding is a dangerous sport and all competitors in ridden classes are strongly advised, for their own safety, to wear appropriate head gear which complies to up-to-date safety standards.
- Exhibitors are advised to ensure that their public liability policy covers the exhibition of livestock at Public Shows.
- On arrival at the showground the driver and one handler per vehicle will be admitted free. All other passengers must pay.
- Horse Boxes & Lorries only in Equestrian Parking Area.
Ridden Ponies - Opening Notes
Ring 2 at 9.30am 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes will be presented at the end of each class
- BALLYMENA PERPETUAL CUP to Champion in the Equitation Classes
- KATIE BYRNE MEMORIAL CUP to the winner of the 17th-20th Birthday Equitation class
In all classes ponies and riders should be neatly turned out. All Riders must wear helmets which comply with up to date safety standards. The following classes are Equitation classes which are judged on the riders ability only.
RULES & CONDITIONS:
- Riders may compete in one equitation class only.
- Ponies may enter multiple classes with different riders. This is to accomodate families with one pony and multiple riders.
- Ponies must be 4 years old or over.
- Snaffle bridles only.
- Riders will be judged in two phases: riding collectively (with all competitors in the class following the instructions of the steward to walk, trot, change direction, canter (depending on the class) and halt and salute) and riding individually (each rider puts on a small show for the judge while the others stand in line.
- Riders will be judged on the following; (i) Performance as above (ii) Position and seat of the rider (iii) Correct use and effectiveness of the aids
- Riding independently classes (child must be 5 years old)
